Tick tock… wait, is my body clock ticking that loud? I’m not a second over 33 years, 3 months and 5 days, not that anyone but me is counting. Every morning when I wake up, I look in the mirror and this morning I see what could be the beginning of another wrinkle forming at the crease of my eyes.
The sign of lots of laughter, or so I’m told, but this morning, I don’t feel much like laughing at it, more like screaming. And it’s at that moment, I decide I need to actually do something about this.
My skin has been looking a little duller lately. Too much rain, not enough sunlight, or water for that matter, and far too much aircon in the office. I’m feeling a little dull around the edges. I guess it’s bye-bye to my twenties forever.
So, like any good journalist, I start my investigation like any good millennial – on Google. I was the search engine “what can I do to get to get a younger and fresher look?” And up pops Luvly, a cool little app for face yoga. It promises no needles and a stress-free approach.
I’m sceptical, of course. Almost I know has tried Botox, with varying degrees of success, but face yoga? That’s new to me. No equipment needed — just the app and a little face cream or oil? Well, count me in. Let’s see if this actually works.
The first session — Is my face supposed to feel like this?

It’s day 1. I open the app and there it is “quick and easy.” I think to myself, well how many times have I heard that only to be met by challenges and yet more challenges. As I move through the questionnaire about my skin and issues, I’m actually pleasantly surprised, it’s quick and I get my own personalized plan in just a few taps with no promises of overnight miracles.
Not it’s time to try it for real. I select my first session, lift and glow. I mean, who doesn’t want to look younger and glow, right? The instructor pops on the screen, she’s got this chill vibe, which is perfect for beginners. It’s not too fast or slow.
Starting with a few simple stretches to release my muscles — I didn’t realize I was clenching my jaw that tightly — and now it’s onto the routine. I start puffing out my cheeks like a chipmunk and remember I haven’t been worked out since I last smiled at a compliment (and that was... well, 2019?) and I’m holding the pose… and my face is burning. Ok, not literally, but it does seem to be working.

By the end of the first session, my face is feeling both amazing and like it’s run a marathon. Did I really just do that?
One week in — am I glowing yet?

When I left off on day one, I was feeling the burn and kind of loving it. This past week has been a bit of trial and error, some days I’m vibing and other days, I almost forget until it’s bedtime that I need to do my routine.
But after seven whole trips around the sun of puffing, smooching, and contorting my face into something I never thought I’d see in the mirror, I can definitely say, I feel more relaxed. My favorite moves so far?
First, the Puff, aka Cheek Lift. It’s quite like holding onto the last slice of pizza. First you puff up your cheeks, hold and repeat. Then my next favorite is one I like to call “I’ve had enough of life’s drama.” In this, you open your mouth wide, just like your most-loved show’s been cancelled, hold and relax. Actually, I think this one got me to unclench my jaw for the first time in forever. Then it’s got to be The I’m-Too-Cute-to-Be-Mad Face, aka fish pout. Suck in the cheeks, stick out the pout — so not cute, but it real does tone.
The question is, does it show?
I’m not quite ready to ask my friends just yet, so I compare the snap I took at the start of the week and now. So far, my skin does seem a little brighter, the dark circles around my eyes seem a little less dark, but I guess that could be that I’ve been using my moisturizer more consistently. Let’s check in again later.
The one-month mark — is the face yoga glow real?

Drumroll, please, and the results are in… My skin is looking, well, actually, much better. Let’s be real, it’s not a full-on facelift or an overnight fix, but I definitely have that full-night’s-sleep look, and my skin is looking fresher.
My face feels tighter, especially around the jawline, and I think I actually see my cheekbones making a reappearance. So, I consider that a win. I’ve gone from tired, dull, lady to glowing goddess, by my own assessment, in just over a month.
The verdict. Is it an overnight fix or miracle cure for aging? No. But Luvly is 100% a handy tool to have in your kit. It’s stress-free, zero needles, and I really do feel more relaxed. So, yeah, count me as a convert, I’ll be keeping up my routine for ages to come.

Me too. I’ve been using Luvly for 2 months now and it’s my go-to. I don’t think it’s even the skin results, it’s how it makes me feel.

I’ve always had puffiness around the eyes and was considering something more drastic to help. After reading this I’m going to give Luvly a go first. Let’s see if it helps.
